Over 700 lots presented for sale on Thursday last as Castlerea Mart held its Annual Show and Sale of Aberdeen Angus Heifers. The top quality store Aberdeen Angus heifers made up to €4.42 a kilo while forward lots made up to €2900 with a good clearance taking place. The weanling trade remains very strong with bulls making up to €7.03 a kilo while heifer weanlings topped out at €6.80 a kilo. Dry cows made up to €3400 while cows with calves at foot made up to €4300. A selection of springing heifers made up to €4460 with a good number of them exceeding €4000.
