Cattle sale, Monday 23 February 2026
94 KG HEREFORD BULL €1,020. 1,100 stock including 600 calves were sold at Kilmallock on Monday last. The calf trade is at record levels. Some “grass men” are now starting to buy stores. Light yearling type bullock sold for up to €2,130 a head or €5.09 per kg. Heavier bullocks hit €2,670 each or €3.90 per kg. Dry cows made up to €2,470 each or €3.59 per kg. Light heifers sold for up to €1,860 a head or €5.95 per kg. Heavier heifers sold for up to €2,350 each or €4.26 per kg. Dairy stock hit €2,700 a head. The first big calf sale of the year was a flyer.
